The client required a turnkey level indication and alarm monitoring system capable of transferring level and alarm data to a remote location. The installation served eight storage tanks containing diesel fuels reclaimed from tank maintenance and spill recovery, where reliable monitoring and clear visibility were essential.
Fuel level information is accessed through a secure web‑based browser using a hard‑wired connection, with all level and alarm data fed directly into the site’s wet stock management system. Each tank is equipped with Afriso DMU 08 submersible pressure transmitters, providing accurate level measurement to a multi‑process indicator panel that displays contents in litres along with individual ullage calculations.
To ensure safe operation, the system incorporates Afriso NOV2 twin‑channel thermistor switches for fail‑safe high‑level alarms, and Afriso ELT 8 conductivity switches with 69‑series probes for 50 mm water‑bottom detection. These alarms, along with level data, are transmitted via an RS485 loop to an onsite PC, with automatic retransmission to an offsite, web‑hosted wet stock management system.
The core functionality delivered includes:
- Continuous level measurement via DMU 08 submersible pressure transmitters
- Local display of tank contents and ullage
- High‑level and water‑bottom alarm detection
- Hard‑wired web‑based access to level data
- RS485 transmission to onsite and offsite wet stock systems
The completed system provides a reliable, integrated monitoring solution that improves operational visibility, supports environmental protection and ensures reclaimed diesel stocks are managed safely and efficiently.
