Charity of the Month – The Kit Wilson Trust for Animal Welfare
This month, we’re proud to donate £200 to The Kit Wilson Trust for Animal Welfare, an organisation that has been rescuing and caring for animals for more than four decades. Founded in 1975, the Trust has grown into a vital part of the animal welfare community in East Sussex, offering safety, rehabilitation and lifelong care to animals that need it most.
A Longstanding Commitment to Animal Welfare
Based in Hadlow Down, the Trust currently looks after over 500 animals and birds. Many of these residents arrive after being abandoned, injured or neglected, while others come through wildlife rescue calls or emergency situations. Some animals are successfully rehomed, but for those who cannot be placed elsewhere, the Trust provides permanent sanctuary and ongoing care.
Their work spans a wide range of species — from horses and goats to cats, dogs, birds and small mammals. Every animal, regardless of size or background, receives the same level of attention and compassion. The Trust also operates a wildlife emergency helpline, offering support and guidance to the public seven days a week.
Prevention Through Responsible Care
One of the founding principles of The Kit Wilson Trust is the importance of spaying and neutering. By reducing the number of unwanted litters, they help prevent animals from entering rescue situations in the first place. This policy has remained central to their mission since 1975 and continues to make a meaningful difference today.
Why We Chose to Support Them
The Kit Wilson Trust is a brilliant example of a charity quietly doing essential work — day in, day out — to protect vulnerable animals and support the local community. Their dedication, experience and compassion align closely with the values we believe in, and we’re pleased to contribute to their ongoing efforts.
We’re proud to support them this month and to help raise awareness of the incredible work they do.
If you’d like to learn more about The Kit Wilson Trust or support them directly, they’re well worth a visit.
