The Project
Comma Oils are a major supplier to the automotive industry supplying products such as oils, coolant, engine additives and screen wash.
Comma’s tank farm at Gravesend, Kent comprises nineteen tanks ranging from 5 to 10 metres in height containing diverse chemical products.
Comma looked in the market place for a supplier to design a bespoke system which would enable them to manage their daily routines with accurate level measurement and safety alarms.
The plant engineers at Comma found that Afriso Eurogauge products met their criteria and reached their service levels.

The Solution
|

We designed a bespoke control panel, which conformed to Comma's requirements, and could be wall mounted. The panel housed nineteen LED display meters all showing the tank capacity in litres together with a high level alarm indicator. If a high level was reached a light would activate along with a sounder. On each tank a high accuracy Micro TREK guided Microwave level transmitter was installed
providing a 4-20mA signal back to the control panel.
Separate ENT 7 capacitance level switches were mounted on the tank tops and wired to ground level ACU2030 “system test” alarm units. These would allow the engineers to test the ENT 7 units at any given time without having to climb up on the tanks themselves.

The Results

| Comma Oils now have a tailor made tank level control system providing them with greater on site safety conditions and improved overall stock control, all of which can be monitored continuously from within the factory engineers office. |
